Tourist Highlights in Rajkot

Rakjot was discovered by the Jadeja Clan in the 1600s. It soon became home to Mahatma Gandhi and his family when he was a young child. Gandhi spent his childhood years milling around this scenic city that has been the backdrop for the sale of Gold for many years. Aji River Dam

The Aji River is the primary origin for the water supply that flows from the mountain regions of Lodhika and Sardhar where it eventually empties out to the large Arabian Sea. Aji means mother in Sanskrit and it is a fitting name for such a majestic river that displays a garden full of steps that lead to an amusement park, a crocodile park, bird aviary, and a zoo. Sri Ranchhoddas was discovered by an Ashram named Sant Asaramji Bapu. It is a spiritual place where many people go to pray. It also a place of learning with many humanitarian, educational, and medical activities.

Community Science Center

The Community Science Center also consists of a Planetarium that was built in the 1990s. It is a place of knowledge where indigent children can go to learn about math and science through workshops, educational activities, and seminars. Children are taught about the dangers of the Aids disease, as well as learning about the different planets, their effects regarding nature, and their rotation in the universe. All learning experiences come through video and audio displays.

Jagat Mandir

Jagat Mandir is a temple that is located on the road called Yagnik. The temple is etched in beautiful crimson stones that contain the many artifacts from every type of religion. It is a universal sacred temple that holds information on Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Islam religions. The most beautiful artifact of all is a marble bust of Sri Ramakrishna. The Lotus Vedi that holds the marble bust is made in an image of pearl white.

Iswariya Temple

The Iswariya Temple is located on the outer part of the village of Madhapar in Rajkot. It is a devotion to a God called Lord Shiva. The temple holds a yearly event where residents and members of the temple, as well as tourists, can pay tribute to the temple. Tourists especially enjoy the beauty of the place and the terrain where they can hold picnics with baskets full of great Indian food and bread.

Jubilee Garden

This is an exposed city garden park located in the middle of Rajkot that was built back in the colonial era. The monuments that are placed in this garden are magnificent. The garden has a library, high school, museum, and a place called Connaught Hall.
